Volkswagen has announced that it will lay off 5,000 to 7,000 employees by 2023 to provide around 6 million euros ($ 6 million) for the production of electric and self-propelled vehicles.
"From 5 to 7 thousand jobs will be eliminated by 2023," said Volkswagen in a statement.
For those who do not know, the German company invests 19 billion euros in the world to run its electric and self-driving models, compared to 11 billion euros announced last November.
It is expected that by 2020, 21,000 jobs worldwide will be abolished, which will save more than 3 billion euros, according to the website.
German brand schemes Volkswagen introduced 70 electric models by 2028, more than 20 models than previously planned.
Volkswagen has decided to increase its efforts to reduce costs and savings. The aim is to finance these huge investments in the near future, which will allow it to generate 6% in 2022.
